Learner Response- Mr Halsey

-Nice engaging starter ans excellent use of humour in delivery- achievement points!
-Good clear opening slide that defines vivendi with clarity.
-History shows research has taken place but for too much text on the slide and you just read it to us! Good question at the end about activistion gets some good engagement with the class.
-Link to COD is good - a important brand
-Way too much text, don't read it to us! in fact, it seems like you're reading it for the first time which is a critical error with presentations.
-There is good information hidden away here but the quality of text and lack of clarity means you are losing the audience.
-It's  good that you have used the headings in terms of control and influence but i fear you have lost some of the key points that we want the class to take away,
-Real lack of preparations and thought behind presentation but somewhat saved by humour and delivery.

www- Good humour to keep the class awake and interactive
Ebi- Practice and have more understanding of the actual information

Advert

Media Language-
The first impression of this advert is something urban or underground as it involves a street artist (Curtis Jackson) that also goes about  the name of 50 cent.
The colour scheme is really dull as it involves black, grey and white but this is effective as it brings the urban side of the advert out.
The advert is split into two images with one involving the rapper 50 cent with a close range shot of him. The other side has a background of finger prints which represents crime and brings out the urban side too. The quote highlights the idea of determination which is inspirational.

Added-
The myth behind this advert is that regardless of your past mistakes, you can not change it so you have to make the most of who you are and what it has taught you. It promotes change and that even if you went down the wrong path, you can still make something of your life.
The dominant reading is to show how much change you can make even if involves a criminal history, so the products are meant to be a sign of making something of your life. The link to crime is most likely to attract a younger audience because that is sort of life that is surrounded around them.
The negotiated reading is important when it comes to this advert. This is because you have to have an understanding of the main person (50 cent) in order to know what change Reebok is promoting. We know the producers intentions is to make something of your past, but for someone that knows who 50 cent is, you automatically assume it is criminal related due to his past and this makes you think that you can still do crime and make something out of it. This is because is a gangster rapper and at those times that is what everyone wanted to be so to see him on a advert like that, it will promote criminal activity.
The Op-positional reading could be that everyone should be a criminal and it is alright to do so as they have someone with multiple arrests for drugs and guns on their advert who still makes music to promote that sort of behaviour.

My Advert-

Firstly the main stand out of this advert is the image of Paul Pogba on the front who is currently a Manchester united footballer who was worth £89 million in the recent transfer window. The two names in bold Pogba x Stormzy suggest two major gifted people teamed up for the presentation of the next upcoming star. The advert is split into two sections, with the left side showing the brands logo and the other of a dominant paul pogba with his crossed arms. The main caption where it says 'First Never Follows'
